G-SHOCK x Lena Kemna & Christina Gindl: Fifth Tide
Fifth Tide is a 25 min film about the journey of two women tackling bigger waves: Winter swells, thundering waves, sharp reefs, paddling larger waves with guns, and the struggle and joy that comes with all of that. It is a raw, authentic documentary of the lives of Christina and Lena throughout the swell season of Portugal ́s winter. It shows their connection to the ocean, to nature, and to each other.
The film will be released in Spring/Summer 2023 at film festivals globally and at a planned film tour in Europe before being eventually available on streaming platforms.
The core team consists of:
Antonio Saraiva – Director of Photography
Luigi Rapanelli – Camera
Rico Stein – Co-director & editor
The film will be accompanied by the Instagram channel @fifth.tide where all information about screenings as well as behind-the-scenes insights will be shown.
"Tides come and go, ever-equal, ever-changing. Again, and again, carrying with them the waves that hit our shores. While every wave is unique, formed by the storms and shaped by its journey across the ocean, it is also regular, part of an endless swell, ever persisting in the way it hits the shore, its fluid form crushed by constant reefs.
And yet, every wave that breaks meets a different shore. Being crushed by the shore it also crushes the shore. Reforming, advancing so slowly it is hardly noticeable during a lifetime, and yet, in its persistence, it’s the waves who have formed our coasts.
Waves, carried by the ocean, grouped as tides, dictated only by the moon.
So when the ocean calls us, we are ready."

"For us, it's never been about competition. It's just about seeking waves.
Any type of wave. Small, big, perfect, and imperfect. Stormy days, cold mornings. Connecting with nature, in its purest way.
That's all, really. It's simply about being out there. There is no other purpose.
In the end, if you do the same things, in the same place, you are bound to run into each other.
I think in some way, both of us have been looking for someone like this, maybe without really knowing it."
