Detects position and time information from
GPS satellites.
Thanks to the innovative GPS hybrid technology—a combination of energy-efficient high-performance GPS as well as radio technology (Multiband 6)—two powerful systems are used for time adjustment, which complement each other and thus show the time precisely at almost any location in the world: Where available, the G-SHOCK automatically receives the radio signal of the respective regions, and therefore shows the correct time with atomic accuracy in Europe, North America and Japan, as well as in distant parts of Canada, Central America and China. Where these signals are not available, the watch corrects the time using GPS signals — also fully automatically. The time can, of course, also be set manually using both systems.
Quick display of the correct time anywhere in the world
- Captures information about your current position and time via GPS satellites.
- Automatically analyses the time zone based on your position information.
- Determines the status of daylight saving time based on your current position and displays the exact time automatically.
- Connects to GPS satellites in just 3 seconds. Time correction is complete in a minimum of 7 seconds.
- In addition, a daily automatic reception can be configured.
Unique GPS algorithm
Use of positioning data from GPS satellites and data from a high-resolution map divided into a grid with units measuring about 500 m enables users to determine locations more accurately.
In addition, use of a single-variable data analysis method to group areas in the same time zone that share the same Daylight Saving Time regulations makes it possible to establish time differences with greater speed and accuracy.
