Charles Darwin Foundation partnership watches inspired by creatures that live in the Galápagos Islands
This release marks the fourth collaboration with the Charles Darwin Foundation, an organization engaged in environmental conservation in the Galápagos Islands. It features two models: one inspired by the Galápagos Albatross (waved albatross) and the other by the Sally Lightfoot Crab, two endearing creatures, represented here in vivid colors and unique designs. The base model is the GA-B2100, featuring Tough Solar and bio-based resin. Both functions and materials reflect a commitment to environmental responsibility.
Charles Darwin Foundation
The Charles Darwin Foundation is an international nonprofit organization that operates the Charles Darwin Research Station. It is the first international organization to engage in conservation activities in the Galápagos Islands, starting in 1959. Currently, it has over 100 staff members from all over the world involved in a range of activities, including surveying the Galápagos Islands’ marine and terrestrial life and ecosystems, promoting island nature conservation efforts, and providing environmental education to local residents.
Galápagos Albatross
GA-B2100DF-1A
The Galápagos Albatross is one of the largest birds in the Galápagos Islands, with a wingspan of over two meters. Its graceful glide on rising air currents is depicted in the shape of the indicator hand and on the band loop. A map of the Galápagos Islands adorns the dial, accented with yellow details inspired by the bird’s beak.
Sally Lightfoot Crab
GA-B2100DF-4A
The Sally Lightfoot Crab lives on the rocky shores and sandy beaches of the Galápagos Islands. Its vivid body colors are expressed in the bold red and orange color scheme. A playful depiction of the crab raising its claws appears on the indicator hand and the band loop. The dial is also adorned with a silhouette inspired by the Galápagos Islands.
Special features to commemorate a special collaboration
The case back is engraved with the Charles Darwin Foundation logo, and the band is printed with the statement “Apoyo la conservación de Galápagos.” (Spanish for “I support Galápagos conservation.”) These watches come complete with special, plastic-free packaging.
Attention to materials: Bio-based resin
Key resin components used in the bezel and band are made with bio-based resin, a material expected to help reduce environmental impact.
