Distinctive MR-G face design in hanada-iro blue, inspired by the stately serenity of a mountain pagoda shrouded in mist
Tapping into the dawn-blue silence of Tohoku’s oldest pagoda, this distinguished design evokes the true timeless spirit of this Japanese national treasure. The pagoda is nestled in the forest of Yamagata, which is also home to the Casio crafting facility where MR-G timepieces — the flagship line of the G-SHOCK brand — are made. The distinctive dial design of the B2100 watches, which evokes the traditional Japanese interlocking woodwork technique known as kigumi, is rendered in traditional Japanese hanada-iro blue, expressing the beautiful scene of the five-storied mountain pagoda veiled in drifting mist. Evoking timeless strength and dignity, this timepiece lends a touch of tranquil elegance to the wrist.
FEATURES
Hanada-iro blue: A traditional Japanese hue expressing the stately serenity of a mountain pagoda shrouded in morning mist
With roots in indigo-dyeing, the traditional hanada-iro hue has an extensive history of use for busho military commanders’ helmets and other important items. Displaying subtle variations depending on the light and viewing angle, the clear blue color quietly evokes the ancient pagoda as it whispers the mystical passage of time.
Metal exterior featuring meticulous polishing of individual components
The bezel is formed from a total of 27 separate components instead of the conventional single piece, enabling the application of meticulously detailed high-quality polishes to each surface. Similarly, the dimpled parts of the bracelet are constructed with separate componentry. Prior to careful assembly of the watch components, skilled artisans manually polish each individual part to create beautifully smooth, distortion-free surfaces. In addition, a titanium carbide (TiC) finish is applied to provide even greater abrasion resistance, delivering long-lasting protection worthy of the silver gleam of the timepiece.
The watch also employs the Multi-Guard Structure, with various buffers inserted between the bezel components to help absorb impacts to the module and satisfy stringent criteria for shock resistance.
Carefully selected super-hard alloys: Combining strength with beauty
The top bezel is made with COBARION®, an alloy about four times harder than pure titanium which also has a brilliant gleam comparable to platinum. The bracelet links employ DAT55G, an alloy which is about three times harder than pure titanium. These Japan-made super-hard alloys make for an exterior design that offers both strength and beauty, along with a sophisticated textural appeal. A special Ti64 titanium alloy is used for the case, case back, buttons, and crown.

Dial design inspired by kigumi concept from Japanese aesthetics
The interwoven, latticework-like form, with its intricate series of openings, creates a pattern beautifully expressing the worldview of kigumi, the traditional Japanese art of woodwork joinery. The openings in the latticework dial ensure plenty of light passes through to power the watch. The 12 o’clock index features an intricately assembled two-part structure. This kind of craftwork, which demands the very highest precision, is only possible thanks to the fine processing technologies of Yamagata Casio.

Kigumi
Kigumi is a traditional Japanese construction method and woodworking technique used for wooden joinery without the use of nails or other metal fittings. It produces forms with both structural strength and artistic design sensibility. Such wooden latticework techniques produce intricate geometric patterns, which can also be observed in other traditional Japanese handicrafts.
Shock-resistant crown
Protective parts are built into the crown and buttons to help absorb impacts to the module. A special construction keeps the MR-G logo, engraved on the crown, horizontally aligned when the crown is screw-locked.
