Innovative materials deliver boundless beauty and plenty of toughness to stand the test of time.
Built out of pure passion to deliver the ultimate in toughness, MR-G timepieces not only integrate leading-edge production technologies with artisanal techniques, but also employ materials with the kind of strength the G-SHOCK flagship line deserves.
The sophisticated construction of MR-G timepieces ensures robustness and durability, to be sure, but meticulous selection of innovative materials is a big part of how MR-G watches delivers the toughness it takes to stand the test of time. The special materials we choose offer boundless beauty no words could express while also ensuring reliability, performance, and durability.

COBARION®: A beautiful, white gleam comparable to that of platinum
COBARION® is a super-hard alloy developed in Japan that offers both hardness exceeding that of the stainless steel typically used in high-end watches and a beautiful, white gleam comparable to that of platinum.
Boasting a hardness about four times that of pure titanium, COBARION is a scratch-resistant material with a long-enduring, dignified gleam. This is why the MRG-B5000 series, for example, uses this material for the bezel — the watch component with the greatest visibility and susceptibility to scratching. Also gentle on the body, COBARION is often used in state-of-the-art medical applications, including artificial joints, since it contains no nickel, a common metal allergen.
Another attractive quality of COBARION is its soft, profound gleam, featuring a brightness (value), hue, and saturation (chroma) comparable to 950 platinum. Also, in addition to the material’s inherent resistance to discoloration, a coating formed on its surface prevents oxidation and sulfurization, ensuring that the original color of the material is resistant to discoloration due to factors such as perspiration or wearing the watch in hot springs and spa settings.
COBARION is an extremely difficult material to process, as it increases in hardness in correlation with the amount of force applied to it. But this did not stop us. The Casio passion to deliver both long-lasting beauty and solid durability drove us to adopt highly original advanced processing technologies that allowed the first-ever use of this material by any watch manufacturer in the world.

DAT55G
Titanium, a material used in a range of fields, from the aerospace and chemical industries to medicine, features outstanding lightness, strength, corrosion resistance, and non-magnetism. DAT55G is a high-performance titanium alloy developed in Japan that boasts a hardness about three times that of pure titanium, while featuring a comparably light weight.
DAT55G stands out not only for its hardness, which exceeds that of the titanium materials commonly used in high-end watches, but also because it is hypoallergenic and non-irritating even for people with metal sensitivities. Employed for the band on the MRG-B5000 series, for example, it ensures a light, comfortable fit on the wrist.

Sapphire crystal
To ensure full enjoyment of the intricate, beautiful details of the dial design, MR-G timepieces employ a sapphire crystal with outstanding scratch resistance and an anti-reflective coating applied to the inner surface. The sapphire crystal used in the MR-G line combines superior hardness — nearing that of diamond, with a rating of 9 on the Mohs scale of mineral hardness — with excellent scratch resistance to ensure unobstructed visibility and long-lasting beauty at all times.
