This time, the stage is Paris, a city with a cinematic beauty of its own.
On an ordinary day, a man’s G-SHOCK slips from his hand and tumbles out the window of a Parisian apartment.
What follows is a chain of unforeseen incidents, unfolding like scenes from a French film.
Is it coincidence or fate? And just how much can a G-SHOCK endure?

An Encounter Sparked By G-SHOCK

Late-morning sunlight pours over the streets of Paris. But the man leaning out from his fifth-floor apartment wears a tense expression. Known for his punctuality, today of all days he is running late for the bus for an important meeting. He throws on a shirt, tidies his hair, and scans the street for his bus. Just as he leans out to fasten his G-SHOCK, he mutters, “Uh oh.” It might have been the rush, or the excuses for being late that occupied his thoughts, and then his grip slips. The watch falls from his hand and hits the pavement below with a hard smack.

He sprints down the stairs. On the street, fate offers no mercy. The watch has landed in the path of being a street-cleaning crew. The worker, absorbed in blasting away cigarette butts and debris, fails to notice the G-SHOCK and sends it flying onto the road with a jet of water.

The late-morning Paris traffic is heavy. Cars rush past, missing the watch by inches. Then a Vespa appears, moving quickly down the narrow street at nearly 40 kilometers per hour. The rider does not see the G-SHOCK and presses over it with the front wheel, and causes it to spring up before it bounces and rolls across the pavement again.

Panting, the man reaches the ground floor and spots the watch lying in the middle of a crosswalk 10 meters away. He cannot tell if it is still running. Summoning the last of his strength, he runs toward it. From the opposite side of the street, a woman steps into the crosswalk. The sunlight glimmers off her white dress and red heels as she strides forward, unaware of the G-SHOCK at her feet. She steps on it, loses her balance, and stumbles, only to be caught by the man rushing in.

“Are you alright?” he asks, concern in his voice for her and for the watch she just stepped on.

From this G-SHOCK came an unexpected encounter. Just as the watch continued to tick after being dropped to the ground, soaked, and stepped on, perhaps they too will weather life’s trials together and mark a new chapter in time.
