Casio Singapore Pte. Ltd. Managing Director, Mr. Shigeru Watanabe and General Manager, Mr. Masakazu Sugawa visited the Jalan Besar Stadium today to meet the FAS’ General Secretary, Mr Yazeen Buhari and National Team Head Coach, Mr Tatsuma Yoshida along with National Team Players, Shahdan Sulaiman and Gabriel Quak to unveil and present the Lions’ G-SHOCK watches before the National Team departs for their training camp in Dubai on Sunday, 7 November 2021.
According to the FAS General Secretary, Mr Yazeen Buhari, the endorsement of watches by the Japanese watch company is a testament that Singapore's football scene is beginning to gain positive momentum from local organisations within the country. “We are grateful for the faith and support that Casio Singapore has demonstrated to our AFF Suzuki Cup campaign. Despite these difficult years caused by the pandemic, we have seen many organisations step forward to show such unprecedented support to the local football scene. This G-SHOCK watch endorsement with the Lions’ insignia will remind the National Team squad that they are playing for a country that stands unwaveringly behind them.” Meanwhile, Mr. Shigeru Watanabe, Managing Director of Casio Singapore Pte. Ltd. hopes this will spur the Singapore National Team on to greater heights in the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup 2021.
“As my adopted country, I will be passionately cheering on the Lions in the upcoming AFF Suzuki Cup 2021. G-SHOCK stunned the world with a concept for toughness that defied conventional watchmaking logic. We trust that these limited edition pieces will, in turn, motivate our Lions to rise to the occasion, display a united toughness and stun the region in the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020. Casio Singapore is behind them all the way. Together, we are ONESTRONG!”
He added that Casio has supported the development of various sports with its G-SHOCK brand actively. Being the official timekeeper for the AFF Suzuki Cup 2020, several marketing campaigns and events will be carried out to help promote football in the ASEAN region.
