To celebrate International Women’s Day, a special video is now available featuring artist Ran Tondabayashi, who created the main visual for this project. The video looks into her creative energy and the ideas that shape her work.

Working across collage, illustration, painting, and video, Ran Tondabayashi captures fragments of time from her own perspective. Seen through her distinctive perspective, the video captures fragments of time and visually conveys the G-SHOCK worldview of strength and beauty.

Born in 1987. After graduating from Bunka Fashion College, Tondabayashi began working in illustration and collage, and started presenting her work in solo exhibitions in 2013. In 2016, she made her debut as an art director, working on the major-label debut of artist AIMYON . She is currently based in Tokyo.

Using a wide range of approaches including collage, illustration, painting, three-dimensional works, and video, she creates visually striking pieces by combining motifs inspired by everyday life. Her work is known for its bold contrast of bizarre and charming elements. In addition to art direction for CD jackets and directing music videos, she also works on advertising visuals, spatial direction, and collaborations with fashion brands. Her artist’s pseudonym, Ran Tondabayashi, was given by Ikeda Takafumi, a prominent Japanese musician  who is also known as Rekishi.

Casio is celebrating women again this year with a very special G-SHOCK designed to commemorate International Women’s Day, March 8.
The dark grey body plays with shadow to add powerful depth and dimension, while touches of gold hue represent rays of hope breaking through a monochromatic world.  Metallic accents on the dial radiate premium elegance.
This is a timepiece that delivers both strength and beauty, all in a design and size that’s perfect for easy everyday style — a watch for women who live each day with strength and confidence.

International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day, which takes place every year on March 8, was recognized by the United Nations in 1975. It is a day for celebrating the expanding opportunities for women to play impactful roles in peace, security, and development and to hold leadership positions in organizations and communities, as well as an opportunity to consider how to achieve further progress.
