Multi-Guard Structure: High-level integration of shock resistance and intricate beauty made possible with a hybrid construction

The Multi-Guard Structure employed in our digital timepieces is a unique construction designed to achieve high-level integration of the shock resistance and beauty the MR-G line stands for. The bezel and case are formed from multiple parts instead of single pieces, and more compact buffers are inserted between the parts to achieve a highly sophisticated hybrid shock-resistant structure.
The multi-component case incorporates four-cornered suspension componentry combining T-shaped bars and flat springs as well as buffering. The strong, tough construction absorbs external shock not just at a single point but from all directions — from the front, the sides, the top, or the underside — complementing the additional shock-absorbing structure of the inner case.
A noteworthy feature of the Multi-Guard Structure is the way it enables the application of Sallaz polishing to each component to create a stunningly smooth and distortion-free mirror finish. The multiple-component construction of the exterior makes it possible to finish each part, including grooves, depressions, and chamfered edges, which would be impossible if it were a single piece. The parts are carefully assembled by hand after the application of intricate, sophisticated polished finishes. The finishes are all done by master artisans, who apply their skills to create a sparkle with quality and dignified distinction befitting the MR-G line — the crowning G-SHOCK achievement.
Clad Guard Structure for further enhanced shock resistance, durability, and usability

The Clad Guard Structure employed in our analog timepieces features integration of the crown and buttons, along with the guard parts that protect them. The unique construction enables a guard-less design, while offering an optimized combination of further enhanced shock resistance, durability, and operability.
One key feature is the shock-resistant crown structure, which encloses the crown shaft with the crown cover and buffering to make the crown itself a protective component. Employing slit-shaped buffers that disperse vectors of force to absorb shock to crown components, this robust construction protects internal structures from shock, ensuring that no shock reaches the crown shaft. The adoption of this new guard-less design goes beyond prior G-SHOCK structural notions to deliver dramatic enhancements in the operability of the crown.
Another key feature is the shock-resistant button guard structure, which helps protect the module from shock by surrounding buttons with guard pipes. With both the crown and buttons themselves now also adding protection, the Clad Guard Structure pushes MR-G toughness to the limit and beyond, just as you would expect from the flagship line of G-SHOCK.
