True to the Core – Toughness and the G-SHOCK Lifestyle

Loyalty to a central identity, a deep core, a true passion: this is G-SHOCK. "True to the core" is the G-SHOCK mantra responsible for the toughness at the heart of G-SHOCK design and craftsmanship: legendary shock resistance and 200-meter water resistance are at the center of every G-SHOCK watch. This is the fundamental identity of G-SHOCK, watches that continuously evolve but never stray from their true spirit of toughness and performance with a flair for style. There are many people who have lived the mantra of being true to the core, just as G-SHOCK is guided by it. We feature people from all walks of life that are driven by their passions, those who adapt and create but never sacrifice the heart of who they are.

True to the Core: Mantra of the G-SHOCK Lifestyle

Being "true to the core" isn't passive—it's earned. The world pressures you to quit, blend in, or take shortcuts. The mindset you adopt to protect your core identity is to Never Give Up. Those who adopt this mindset follow a simple truth: your core identity doesn't change if you are tenacious in pursuing your passions. You sharpen those passions through repetition, setbacks, and commitment. You learn, adapt, and grow, but your core stays true. G-SHOCK is a symbol of that commitment to passion: watches that are built on unbreakable fundamentals, just like the people who keep showing up when it's easier not to.

Living True to The Core: Creating G-SHOCK Culture

G-SHOCK features people who stay true to their core and live authentically with a "Never Give Up" spirit. Built around street culture where G-SHOCK naturally belongs, G-SHOCK spotlights Liim (hip-hop artist) and Christiano (model / pizza shop staff).

Biggest challenge I’ve faced is doing what I love for people other than myself and in turn becoming a less genuine version of me.

Lots of inspiration for my path and journey in life. Mainly, I’m devoted and addicted to expressing myself and further understanding myself.

Christiano Wenmann

1. Can you please introduce yourself briefly?
Hello! My name is Christiano and I’m 24 years old. Im half Japanese, half Brazilian, and was raised in queens New York. I’m the head pizza maker at Scarrs Pizza, and have recently started modeling on the side.

2. Can you briefly tell us about what you are working on and its purpose?
At Scarrs we try our best to serve a product that is affordable and made with good quality ingredients. So much food nowadays is processed garbage that causes inflammation, or makes you sick, or causes irritation in your gut etc. We use organic wheat, organic tomatoes etc to create a product that is affordable, tastes good, and is readily available to people of all income levels to purchase. Working with Willy Chavaria deeply shifted my view on the modeling industry and truly really motivated me to help inspire people who may not have the typical industry standard “look” to chase after their dreams. To inspire underrepresented minorities in the industry that anything is possible and you can do it too.

3. What challenges have you faced, and how have you overcome them?
One of the biggest challenges I faced in my life was alcohol/substance abuse issues. I was deeply addicted to alcohol and could not function as a normal person on it. I couldn’t hold down a job, had no direction in my life, was burning every relationship to the ground. By the grace of God I was able to get sober through the program, my higher power, and through the people who supported me.

4. What inspired you to start this journey, and what drives your passion for it?
My mom and sister were my inspiration to start this journey. My mom worked full time, and took night classes at a college while raising me, so that she could provide a better life for me. My sister also worked full time, while also taking me to school, to soccer practice etc so that I may be provided with a good life. They both worked so hard to raise me and I just want to make them proud. It would be a disservice to them if I were to put anything but my best effort forward in achieving my goals. They sacrificed so much so that I may succeed, and I hope that one day I am able to repay them.

5. Is there anything you prioritize or value deeply to stay true to yourself?
Exercise, hard work, sobriety, prayer/meditation, are the things I prioritize in my life to stay true to myself.

6. In your life, what moments do you consider the most meaningful or precious?
Seeing my mom remarry my stepdad and being able to be a part of that was extremely special. Getting ranked as the 2nd best pizzeria in the world by Timeout was an extremely special moment. Walking my first runway show was an extremely special moment. Hitting a year of continuous sobriety was an extremely special moment in my life.

7. What are your aspirations or plans for the future?
I would love to continue to work with Scarrs and help with any form of expansion that they have planned. I would like to continue modeling, and see how that career progresses. And overall just live a happy and healthy life.
