KID FLVSH
1. Can you please introduce yourself briefly?
A: my name is Kid Flvsh. CEO of Flash FWD Productions, LLC. and I am a multi platinum cover art designer , animator , producer & creative genius.
2. Can you briefly tell us about what you are working on and its purpose?
A: currently, I’m working on two animated shows the first being my own personal cartoon called “DA FLIES”. The second show being an unannounced kids show with a big celebrity currently in production. The purpose of my cartoon is to show what the world is like for a struggling fly, trying to take care of his family, while also surviving life as a bug in a human’s world. Showing that humans and other creatures are very similar and showing the real life human connection we all share with all living creatures. The show has a very synonymous theme to black culture, black influence, and even touches on the spiritual side of life, all from a tiny Flies perspective.
3. What challenges have you faced, and how have you overcome them?
A: I faced a lot of challenges. In the beginning of my career, a lot of people, labels and brands alike saw my potential and abused it. Used me for their own financial and personal gain and left me out to dry to figure it out for myself. I’ve had so many people, artists & brands try to utilize my artistic talents and gain FAME, fortune and notoriety off of my brand’s name and hard work. Never crediting me for my assistance in the project at hand, Never properly paying me for my work or trying to lower my set price, And even stealing my designs without my consent and using it for their brand to make money off of, It’s crazy. I’ve overcome it by firstly trusting God and his plan. I surrendered all of my thoughts, feelings and actions to Him, and he has blessed me so vastly that I’m forever grateful. With that power that was bestowed upon me, I was able to not only receive newer, bigger opportunities, but have allowed myself to gain the freedom to be my own artist, create my own projects in my own name and have been blessed to stand tall in the midst of the storm as it passed. Now I’m way better off than I have ever been in my whole career financially, mentally, physically & spiritually! I feel 10 out of 10 across the board.
4. What inspired you to start this journey, and what drives your passion for it?
A: An old friend of mine from middle school inspired me to start this journey. Back in fifth grade, when I first started drawing, before I even knew how to draw anything good he brought a sketchbook to school every day and at lunchtime we would all sit around taking papers from his book and learning how to draw like him. He was super nice while we were all trying to get like him and out of our mini friend group, He and I were the only ones who maintained it. As the years progressed, I’ve developed my own style, crafted My own characters and continued my art journey into my adult years. Animation has always been a dream of mine. To see my art and my characters moving has always been the end goal for me. Growing up, I used to watch all the classic cartoons from Cartoon Network, Disney Channel and Nickelodeon. Watching how these cartoons shaped the culture and the world inspired me to be the next big animator. Coming from where I come from, there aren’t much people that look like me that are trying to do what I do. I want to use these talents and these opportunities that I have to open that door and show up-and-coming animators, artist and creatives alike that it is possible. Dreams can become reality and I want to showcase that through my cartoons, artwork and personality.
5. Is there anything you prioritize or value deeply to stay true to yourself?
A: absolutely. I prioritize God, my time, my energy and family more than anything. These three things are what makes me Who I am today. My relationship with God is strong and can be felt by everyone that I meet or surround myself with. My time is also of high importance because we all have so little time and I’m not a person who likes time to be wasted. I feel like every second counts every thing matters and what you do with the 24 hours that we are all given highly shapes who you are and where you will go in life. My energy is another key component. I’m a highly positive, energetic person and it radiates off me. My high spirits, lovable aura needs to be protected at all cost. I’m not one to be fond of downward or negative energy. I’m very big on energy and spirituality and frequencies and vibrations and if things aren’t right or or people are showcasing that they have negative energy. I tend to stay far away because I don’t want my energy tainted or brought down when it’s my mission to make sure that energy always stays high and positive. Lastly, my family is the final key component that makes me who I am and keeps me true to myself. I have a huge family and without them I’d be lost. They keep me grounded and humbled despite all of the major success and places I’ve been they always are constant reminder of where I came from and where I need to be they are my rock and my backbone.
6. In your life, what moments do you consider the most meaningful or precious?
A: I would say the most meaningful or precious parts of my life are the moments in the morning, where I wake up, look into the sun either through my window or on my porch take my Bible and pray to God for blessing me with another day of life to continue on his path that he set forth for me. I also consider the times that I spend with my family and friends to be very meaningful to me just building upon their energy sharing laughs and memories is some of the best moments that I can recount for my whole entire life. However, The most important and most meaningful and precious moment in my life is when I pick up that pencil and I start drawing whatever my mind comes up with that day those intimate moments with my thoughts in my soul and expressing That on paper through multiple different mediums is honestly the most precious and meaningful thing to me because it was a gift from God that I get to use every day and I’m just honored that I have the ability to do what I do and reach the people that I’ve reached over the many years that I’ve been doing this and I feel like that is the purpose of my life. My purpose is to create, inspire and to uplift everyone.
7. What are your aspirations or plans for the future?
A: My aspirations for the future are to open a animation studio and become the New Age version of what Cartoon Network was for me, but for this generation. I also plan to continue teaching the youth of New York and soon the nation, how to draw and how to utilize their talents to make it their full-time job through my essential arts course which I currently teach in two schools in New York, both in Brooklyn and the Bronx. I also plan to do many cool events and projects around the city that inspire people from all walks of life to come together and be in harmony create freely and spread positivity and happiness through art. Lastly, I would like to start my own art gallery to help showcase not only my art but local artist as well to give them a platform to shine and showcase their talents and make it a series that I do that blends the modern museum style look with the interactiveness of animation and blend the two into one brand new Event series that no one‘s ever seen before.
