Charles Darwin Foundation
GAB2100CD
Charles Darwin Foundation partnership watches, inspired by creatures that live in the Galápagos Islands
Presenting partnership watches designed with the Charles Darwin Foundation, an organization that engages in environmental conservation activities in the Galápagos Islands. This third collaborative release features two models, one featuring the Galápagos marine iguana and one the Galápagos penguin, two endearing creatures represented in vivid colors and unique designs. Based on the GAB2100 with its Tough Solar and bio-based resin, the environmentally focused functions and materials of these watches celebrate the rich diversity of nature.
The Charles Darwin Foundation is an international nonprofit organization that operates the Charles Darwin Research Station. It is the first international organization to engage in conservation activities in the Galápagos Islands, starting in 1959. Currently, it has over 100 staff members from all over the world involved in a range of activities, including surveying the Galápagos Islands’ marine and terrestrial life and ecosystems, promoting island nature conservation efforts, and providing environmental education to local residents.
FEATURES
Galápagos marine iguana
GAB2100CD1A4
The colors of the Galápagos marine iguana — the only iguana that swims in the sea — are represented in two-tone red and black. The indicator hand and band loop feature a stylized iguana sunbathing on rocks, the dial bears a map of the Galápagos Islands, and the wave pattern on the inset dial recalls the sea.
Galápagos penguin
GAB2100CD1A7
The charming black-and-white coloration of the only penguin seen in tropical waters at the Equator is represented in the bezel and band. The dial features a map of the Galápagos Islands, while the wave-patterned inset dial and diving penguins on the indicator hand and band loop complete the look.
Special features to commemorate a special collaboration
The Charles Darwin Foundation logo is engraved on the case back, and the statement “Apoyo la conservación de Galápagos.” (Spanish for “I support Galápagos conservation.”) is printed on the band. The watch comes complete with special, plastic-free packaging.
